[ARCHIVED] City Encourages Residents To Double Check Validly of Door To Door Sales Persons

NACOGDOCHES – The City of Nacogdoches does not affiliate itself with or endorse the products of door to door sales persons. Recently some confusion has been created by an electric service provider initially referring to “the City list” and asking for confirmation of the spelling or pronunciation of the resident’s name.

Some residents assume that because of the reference to “the City list” that the salesperson or his products are affiliated or endorsed by the City of Nacogdoches. While not illegal, such an approach can be misleading. No such affiliation or endorsement has been made by the City.

The City Attorney’s office has contacted the sales office of the company involved. The contact person has agreed to change the presentation to avoid confusion in the future about any relationship with the City of Nacogdoches. If you are approached in the future by someone referring to a “City list,” please get their name and report the incident to the City Attorney’s office at 936-559-2503.

City of Nacogdoches employees you come in contact with will normally be in uniform or should have an I.D. card with their photograph, name, and City department.
