Jury Service
Questions concerning jury service can be answered by calling the Court
at 936.559.2647 for an automated recording with up to date information
regarding the trial you have been summoned for.
Jurors perform a vital role in the American system of justice. The protection of our rights and liberties is largely achieved through the teamwork of judge and jury who, working together in a common effort, put into practice the principles of our great heritage of freedom. The judge determines the law to be applied in a case while the jury decides the facts. Thus, in a very important way, jurors become a part of the court itself.
YOU MAY FAX, EMAIL, OR USE THE DROP BOX ATTACHED TO THE FRONT OF THE MUNICIPAL COURT BUILDING WHEN RETURNING A JURY FORM.
Exemptions and dress code form.
Jurors aid in the maintenance of law and order and uphold justice among their fellow citizens. Their greatest reward is the knowledge that they have discharged this duty faithfully, honorably, and well.
Nacogdoches Municipal Court obtains its jury pool from Nacogdoches County’s voter registration and Texas driver’s license information. A juror must reside inside the city limits of Nacogdoches to be qualified to serve in the Nacogdoches Municipal Court.
Location of service is 217 W. Hospital, Nacogdoches, Texas. Parking is available at no fee in front and side of the court. There is additional parking on Pearl Street across the road from the court.
Municipal Court is the only Court that by law does not have to pay jurors. The Nacogdoches Court pays $6.00 per day for jury service.
If you ignore a jury summons from the Municipal Court you may have to appear in court to answer to Contempt of court citation. A Contempt of Court citation carries a fine of up to $100.00.
