Inspections

The Inspection Services Department is the agency responsible for the provisions, codes and ordinances associated with building, environmental, health, and fire safety.

This department has several components, each designed to improve building and life safety, produce a more stable community, and reduce the incidence of fires and fire loss. Customer service coupled with the impartial application of the city's various codes and ordinances are paramount in the operations of this department. The building, health, plumbing, gas, mechanical, and fire codes meet nationally recognized standards and are augmented by local ordinances concerning a variety of issues including signs, flood plains, fences, septic systems, arson investigation, abatement of weeded lots, and substandard housing, etc.
